Welcome to Hojo’s Japanese Cuisine, a hidden gem nestled in the beautiful Prince Edward Island. Our restaurant takes pride in being owned and operated by a Japanese owner, with a seasoned Japanese Head Chef at the helm. Our Head Chef brings a wealth of experience to our kitchen, boasting an impressive 13 years of sushi-making and Japanese culinary expertise acquired in Japan. At Hojo’s, we are passionate about providing our guests with an authentic Japanese dining experience, featuring the freshest ingredients and expertly crafted dishes that showcase the true essence of Japanese cuisine.

Yuichi Hojo left behind his life as an investment banker in Tokyo for a better quality of life in Prince Edward Island. Upon arriving in PEI, Yuichi began working on a restaurant concept and menu that met his criteria for an authentic Japanese dining experience. Yuichi first visited PEI with his wife in 2015 and found himself drawn to the Island’s pastoral beauty and fresh, clean air. In fact, he was so enamoured with it that he decided to apply for immigration to Canada so he could retire on the Island. In March 2018, Yuichi arrived in his new home in Atlantic Canada. It didn’t take long for the food lover to discover that authentic Japanese cuisine hadn’t made its way to PEI. He decided there was only one solution: he’d open his own restaurant, so he could share his love for Japanese cuisine with Islanders and be able to enjoy dishes from his home country whenever he wanted.

One short year after arriving in his new home, Yuichi opened Hojo’s Japanese Cuisine in May 2019. He is excited to welcome Islanders and visitors to Hojo’s Japanese Cuisine to experience authentic cuisine from the land of the rising sun.
